Karl Ristenpart

Johann Sebastian Bach (31 Maart [O.S. 21 Maart] 1685 – 28 Julie 1750) was 'n Duitse komponis van die Barokera. Vele lede van die Bach-nasate was ook komponiste, maar Johann Sebastian word as die beroemdste gereken. Hy is veral bekend vir sy gewyde musiek, orrelmusiek en kamerorkesmusiek. Bach is in Eisenach gebore. Hy was die seun van Johann Ambrosius Bach, 'n stadsfluitis, en Elisabeth Líimmerhirt. As koorknaap het hy reeds vroeg kennis gemaak met die orrel, wat hy later meesterlik sou bespeel. In 1694, toe Bach nege jaar oud was, het sy moeder gesterf en 'n jaar daarna ook sy vader. Hy en sy broer, Johann Jakob, het na sy oudste broer, Johann Christoph, verhuis, wat 'n orrelis in Ohrdruf was.

Karl Ristenpart leads the Saar Chamber Orchestra, and Herbert Schmolzi leads the Saarebruck Conservatory Chorus in this 1964 performance of the Magnificat in D. Features Teresa Stich-Randall, Bianca Maria Casoni, Pietro Bottazzo and Georg Littasy. Maurice Andre is trumpet soloist. Issued in 1965 on the Nonesuch label, H-71011 (stereo).
